Donald Trump just keeps surpassing all predictions for the GOP nomination. From being casually dismissed when he announced his candidacy, after months of dominating the polls, many in the media are now taking Trump seriously and contemplating what might happen if he wins the nomination. But can he get across the line when there are so many who criticize his outspoken and controversial views?
Despite his popularity, there are many Americans who are doubtful that Trump can actually get things done in Washington, as his comments are more likely to divide rather than unite Congress. Abroad, France, Britain and Canada (as well as many other countries) have all spoken out against his recent racial comments about banning Muslims from entering the country. Even JK Rowling commented that he is worse than Voldemort.
Money is not an obstacle for him to stay in the race but the support of the Republican Party movers and shakers could well be, especially if they endorse another viable candidate who connects better with the base. Whatever the outcome, this race is likely to be a drawn out fight to the bitter end.
